and here we have the New Vegas Giant and her prey: the grumpiest member of the Lollipop Guild.
Release me at once!
Not on your life, Shortstop.
In light of this blatant disrespect you are receiving, Ulysses, perhaps you would like to reconsider the Enclave’s offer?

Stop laughing and get back to work, Lieutenant Williams.
Know that I am at your disposal for any and all operations concerning Mountain Home and Hills air force base. I do suggest that preparing anti air defenses will be a good idea; with Navarro under firm NCR control, I fear that they have access to a sizable force of our own Vertibirds. While I do not have confirmation on the subject, I feel that it would be wise for us to prepare adequate defenses should our suspicions become true.
Of course, Agent Horrigan. I do not anticipate needing your services at Mountain Home, and any move to secure Hill Air Force Base will come after the power of Caesar’s Legion has been blunted after its climactic with the so-called New California Republic, but it is always good to know that you are enthusiastic to do all you can for America.
Deployment of air defenses is a very good idea, but they will by necessity be light. Until Navarro was overrun, the Enclave had complete control over the air, so development of new anti-aircraft artillery received less attention than other weapon systems. Judging by the results of operations here in the Capital Wasteland, soldiers armed with heavy personal weapons such as missile launchers and gatling lasers, combined with whatever functional pre-war AAA is at the base, should prove adequate against any commandeered Vertibirds the NCR might want to send north. A lack of new heavy weapons emplacements will also serve to camouflage our presence at Mountain Home.
This said, I think your services might be best employed in liberating Pittsburgh. The Enclave can put its steel mill and research data to great use in rebuilding America, and since Dr. Gannon proved useless at doing anything but helping himself to our rations, perhaps a different tack is needed securing them. A peaceful transfer of power is preferable to storming the city, and your presence can be very persuasive.
And who knows? Maybe the Lone Wanderer will show up to try to stop us, like she threatened to do, allowing us to kill two birds with one stone.
Mr. President, how has the Enclave fallen victim to the New Californian Republic on the West Coast? After all, their technology isn't any where near the Brotherhood of Steel, and the Brotherhood of Steel is not even in the same ball park as the great Enclave. How is the this possible?
Let us just say that the right man, or woman, in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world, Mr. Lancey.
Whoa, what's with the hostility Eden?
The proper way for you to address me is “Mr. President”. Your failure to do so implies a lack of respect for the Presidency. Your lack of respect for the august office I hold further suggests a lack of respect for America itself.
Anyone who does not respect America is my enemy, and has earned my hostility.
There are at least a dozen of said individuals; while not all of them are working directly for the NCR, I suspect they would oppose us once we make our move. On a futher and perhaps more unsettling note, it appears that many remnants of our forces back west have integrated into the population, one of our own lieutenants is now an NCR Ranger. I advise that we send stealth oriented teams into the Mojave and assassinate them all before they divulge our secrets and dip the scales against our favor.
It may come to that, Agent Horrigan, but I would prefer it did not. Just I will not blame you for falling victim to the superior force the so-called New California Republic arrayed against you, I will not blame Enclave personnel for doing what is necessary to stay hidden and alive on the West Coast after the events forty years ago.
I fully expect most of these Enclave men to weep with joyful tears when they see the honored flag they have not seen for years once again. We simply need to reawaken the American spirit that hibernates in their hearts.
Since some of these individuals are no doubt in it for mercenary reasons, we may be able to reason with them by demonstrating that the rewards we can offer are greater than what the NCR, Caesar or anyone else can.
This does not mean I am unwilling to use force; I want these boons to the NCR neutralized, one way or another. If that means killing them, then so be it. I fear that killing all of them in rapid succession will arouse NCR suspicions, and we may not be able to pin all the blame for their deaths on Caesar’s Legion.
We are of one mind on dispatching infiltrators into the Mojave, Agent Horrigan. Since we cannot at present move into the region in force to attack the NCR directly, this is our only means of affecting the situation, and it is to this end that I ordered Colonel Autumn to secure Mountain Home AFB. The base is far away enough from the Las Vegas area, and in mountainous enough terrain, to be out of the reach of the NCR’s forces, yet more than within range for vertibirds to drop off infiltrators in the nearby desert undetected for their trek into Vegas itself. That location is also further away from the territory held by Caesar’s Legion, such as Hill Air Force Base, which figures into another plan I am developing.
Once Mountain Home is secure, we can begin sneaking those infiltrators in and allowing them to start inflicting upon the “New California Republic” the Enclave’s share of the thousand cuts that will it.
Hello again, my darling America
This is your President, John Henry Eden, and this is my three hundredth post.
We’ve come a long way, America. From discussions with Eve, Ulysses and others about America and philosophy to the random individuals who wander in to offer puerile threats, all have been important to making this blog what it is. I cannot say that all of my messages have been happy ones, but I hope they have all been informative. And while I may not have spoken to you as much as I have in the past, my America, rest assured that I am still here, and still working furiously around the clock to restore this nation to greatness.
But for now, my America, we must part. For there is much work to be done, and the Enclave never rests. Never.
Until we meet again, this is your President, John Henry Eden, signing off.
Hey Eden, why are you such a Wastey Racist?
Who are you and why hasn’t Agent Horrigan snapped your spine like a twig yet?
